The Spring Ox


The spring ox diagram appears on the first page of the chinese almanac every year.

It foretells the weather for the upcoming year, which is a very important aspect in a farmer's life in the ancient days.
The diagram above show the spring ox and the god of spring. Both of them will appear in different and unique characteristics in different years.

These characteristics (color, size, posture, outfit etc) will determine everything spelt for the year ahead.

Year 2010 - Year of the Golden Tiger

1. The year of golden tiger is a yin year because the tail of the ox bends to the right. Also the mouth of the ox shuts and the God of Spring stands on the right of the ox.

2. The God of Spring is an old man because it is the year of Tiger. In other years, he could appear as a child or a young man.

3. The God of Spring wears pants and shoes connotes the Na Yin Element of the day of the Beginning of Spring is a water day.

4. The God of Spring stands in front of the Ox implicates that the Lunar New Year is more than 5 days ahead of the Lap Chun.
