2012 Auspicious Dates for Spring Cleaning

2012 Dates for CNY Spring Cleaning

It is an annual Chinese tradition to close a year and start it off with fresh new energy with a large scale spring cleaning.
This is a day to either preserve the good luck, get rid of the bad luck and invite new luck for the new year.
If a large scale cleaning is not conducted, everyone living in that particular household will feel lethargic and emotionally cluttered in the new year.
Normally, one could follow some rules depending on individual's situation:

Situation 1: If one had enjoyed good harvest, happy moments and generally a fruitful year, they should start to sweep from the maindoor inward into the house. This is to retain positive energy.

Situation 2: If one had suffered from a bad year, sad moments and losses, they should start to sweep from an inner corner of the house diagonal to the maindoor and sweep outwards towards the maindoor.

Situation 3: If one wants to start everything over again from square one (irrespective of good or bad year experienced), they can start sweeping from inner part of the house to the maindoor and sweep outwards towards the maindoor. In this case, they should choose a BREAK DAY in particular and the most suitable to do this is on 11 January 2012 (conflict Ox).

The following are suitable dates for Big Cleaning:

14 January 2012 - conflict Dragon
18 January 2012 - conflict Monkey
21 January 2012 - conflict Pig

Those whose zodiacs in conflict with that particular day should not take part in cleaning activities to prevent injuries.

Grand Duke Jupiter (Tai Sui) 2012

Chinese astrology places great emphasis on appeasing TaiSui or Tai Shui, also called the Grand Duke of Jupiter. This is a terrifying body of energy that you do not want to offend. Disturbed, he will bring severe loss, illness and misfortune upon you. His direction changes every year; by finding out this direction, you can avoid confronting him directly. The Tai Sui takes up 15 degree of the compass.

For 2012, the Ren Chen Year of the Yang Blue Water Dragon (also known as the Yang Black Water Dragon Year), “Peng Tai” is the TaiSui and he is situated at South East. Do not sit facing South East but with your back turned to the South East. Do not install any moving objects like Fish Aquariums or Water Fountains in South East, this year. Do not dig, construct, renovate, redecorate, repair or refurnish in South East this year. Do not drill or even drive a nail in the South East wall. Keep the noise levels to the barest minimum in the South East. Do not excavate or top-up any water bodies in the South East. Do not shift or relocate to South East, this year. Do not chop trees, if they are in the South East. Avoid attending cremation rituals, burial ceremonies, funerals and wakes; felling trees or piercing of ear lobes, this year, if your Main Door faces South East.

If the Grand Duke Jupiter is in direct or indirect conflict with your zodiac sign, make sure to have a protective amulet with you at all times. Zodiac sign offending the Tai Sui will face setbacks and obstacles to success and financial gain.

Here are some Feng Shui tips and rules to observe so as not to incur the Tai Sui’s wrath and bring upon you bad luck: Make sure you don’t sit facing or sleep with your head pointing to the direction of the Grand Duke Jupiter.

Find out the sector affected by the Grand Duke Jupiter and ensure no repair or renovation work is done in this sector – this includes hammering a tiny nail for your picture frame or drilling just one small hole.

Setting up moving objects such as fish tanks or water fountains in the affected sector is a big no no.

If it’s possible to move or shift out from the sector where the Grand Duke Jupiter resides, by all means do so. Appease him by placing a Feng Shui Pi Yao at once in the affected sector or just wear the Tai Sui Amulet or Pi Yao.
